Providing the finest in ballroom dance shoes, dancewear and accessories for the amateur and professional dancer.

Emerald City Dance Boutique was opened in 1995. With 14 years dance experience and years of trial and error in shoe purchases, owners Margaret Clear and Margaret Smith, felt the need for the personal attention of a small store with big products.

We strive to establish a mutually beneficial, ongoing relationship with our clients. Emerald City offers footwear for the style, comfort and enjoyment of the amateur and professional dancer.

Care of your new dance shoes

Generally, dance shoes are worn smaller than your regular street shoes. A snug fit, without hurting you, provides proper balance on the dance floor. You cannot maintain proper control, balance, or dance posture if your feet move inside the shoes.

Your toes should be as close to the end of the shoes as possible in closed-toe styles without actually rubbing. In sandals, the toes should completely cover the sole of the shoe and if possible protrude up to 1/4 inch.

As you wear your shoes and they begin to stretch causing your foot to slip inside, a pair of foam inner soles should be used. When your foot slides in the shoe, it will stretch and become misshapen and wear out more quickly.

Shoes should be polished regularly, keeping them from looking scuffed. The suede soles should be brushed with a suede brush, keeping them free of wax from dance floors. Wax build-up causes the shoe soles to wear more quickly.

Dance shoes should never be worn out of doors. They are handcrafted, balanced and made for dance. Proper care will only enhance your enjoyment of dancing.
